College Guidance

Our overarching goal is to help each of our students locate the most appropriate college setting: match matters most. The most successful searches begin and end with an honest assessment of one’s strengths and weaknesses. We counsel students to adhere to the Delphic admonition: know thyself.

For students and families facing today’s college admission landscape, the perceived endgame of “getting in” is often fueled by a preoccupation with college “rank” and status. This can stir needless anxiety and pressure, and debase the most valuable byproducts of the process: self-discovery and self-worth. We choose, instead, to celebrate those attributes as we support students’ efforts to make the best match.

We see our work as an extension of the holistic approach of the Roxbury Latin curriculum, as we seek to shape and inspire young men of integrity, character, and generosity of spirit – for a lifetime, not merely the four years following high school.
